America - Where the Streets Are Paved with Pavement!

Woohoo!
Three and a half weeks in our good ol' US of A later, we're back in Juba.  The vacation was lovely, from sledding in Colorado to New Years in Austin to dinner parties and oral surgery (not always a great combination) in DC.  We even had two Christmas celebrations :).  To those we saw--Thanks, we had a wonderful time.  To those we missed--we miss you!

I find your lack of reverse
culture shock...disturbing
We were surprised at how at-home we felt at home.  There are many stories of people coming back from very different places and finding themselves overwhelmed, disgusted, or otherwise discombobulated by their homes.  Aside from 10 confusing minutes at the H.E.B. grocery store in Austin staring, respectively, at the salad toppings and coffee, we had very little of this sensation.  Which is not to say that America is void of the disgusting or discombobulating, but hey, what place isn't?  Certainly not South Sudan, but now that we're back, we're home.
