Since John decided to sum up his trip to Malakal in poetry (very good and evocative poetry, I might add), I thought I would do the same thing for my trip to Yei, in that classiest of all poetic forms: the limerick.
Went I from Juba to Yei,
And there for five days I did stay.
The air, it was clear,
Cheap was the beer,
And I thought, move here I may!
In Yei, all said it was cold.
With sweaters and coats they did load.
It reached maybe sixty,
I thought it was nifty,
But came home with a cold in my node.
Yei doesn’t seem like Sudan.
For five days I didn’t see the UN!
There, there is peace,
Well behaved are the police,
And normal sized are the men.
